Bed Tips - After

To Think About … After You Bring Your Bed Home

Body Impressions, Naturally! Expect your new mattress to develop indentations called “body impressions” during the first several months of use. Depth of body impression will vary, depending on size, weight, and positions of the sleeper. These impressions are normal and were anticipated in the design of the mattress. Because only the area where you sleep is compacted, you receive a false visual impression the mattress is defective, “sagging.” This is not the case; the structural integrity of the mattress is not compromised by body impressions. As the padding layers compress, the performance of your mattress will actually improve! NOTE: Body impressions up to one and a half inches during the life of the mattress are not a warranty concern.

Riding the Ridge! When two people sleep on a mattress set, the padding materials tend to settle more rapidly on each side than in the middle. The result is a visible “ridge” down the middle of the mattress. A remedial solution would have one partner sleeping in the middle whenever possible to help reduce this ridge. NOTE: The ridge is considered normal, and as such is not covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty.*

Don’t Touch That Tag! Many people remove the white tags sewn into each mattress or foundation. We strongly suggest you keep them in place for the information contained thereon, until you’re safely past the warranty periods. If it accidentally becomes dislodged, staple the tag to your warranty card.

Potential Structural Damage! Lack of proper support can cause structural damage that will void your warranty! Queen and larger size mattresses and box springs require the use of a frame with proper center support and sufficient hardwood cross slats. NOTE: Check your warranty card for exact manufacturer details.

Ah, the smell of new mattress! New product odors are common. Our mattresses are packaged in sealed plastic bags immediately after production. A scent that comes from the new materials, foams and/or fiberfill in the new mattress can sometimes be unpleasant but not harmful and should dissipate within a few days. To help speed the process air out your new mattress prior to putting on your mattress pad and sheets.

U.S. Hand-Assembled, May Contain Small Imperfections! All mattresses in the U.S. are hand-assembled. Because each mattress is unique, close inspection may reveal minor scuffs, blemishes, or loose threads that will not affect the performance of your premium mattress nor the Manufacturer’s Warranty. Clip loose threads with scissors rather than pulling them.
NOTE: The fabric cover is not covered under the warranty. Protect Your Payment Proof! All our manufacturers’ warranties require proof of purchase before any claims are considered. System upgrades or computer failures at our store may obliterate your proof at point of purchase. If you know where your own copies are, you’re protected.

* Warranty Check! If your new mattress set becomes stained, torn, or unsanitary, it will void not only the Manufacturer’s Warranty but also our Comfort Exchange policy. The relatively minor cost of a mattress pad to protect your mattress makes it a very worth-while investment.
